One of Europe’s finest gins
IN 2022, 105HZ WON A SILVER MEDAL AT THE LONDON SPIRITS AWARDS AND WAS VOTED BEST NEW GIN IN BELGIUM AT THE GIN GUIDE AWARDS.
It’s a source of immense pride that drives us every day to give our all to produce the very best gin.
105Hz is more than a simple creation, it is the soul of a region that we have tried to convey in every sip of our gin.
THE CREATION OF THE FIRST ARGAN GIN
Throughout the creative process we only had one objective : to produce the best gin possible.
For 105HZ to obtain its unique flavor, 8 ingredients have been selected and harvested with the utmost respect for nature: bay leaves, grappa, angelica, bergamot, galanga, turmeric, juniper berries and, of course, argan nuts. – All our ingredients come together in perfect harmony.
7 of the ingredients are hand-harvested in the Ghent region, where our gin is distilled. The only exception is argan, which comes from the argan tree, endemic to Morocco.
Our ingredients are selected and harvested by Jan and Geert Heyneman, two strong and passionate defenders of nature.
By combining our talents and these 8 exceptional ingredients, we have attempted to reproduce a unique phenomenon: the song of the dunes.
NOT ALL SANDS SING...
The name 105Hz was not chosen at random. When the wind makes the grains of sand resonate, the dunes start to sing. In the Sahara, their voice resonates at a frequency of 105Hz.
The story they tell has spanned the centuries. It speaks of bravery, rebellion, and the sleeping power of nature.
...NOT ALL GINS REMEMBER
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Tarfaya region is intimately linked to the history of Morocco. Here are the main events.
- 1832: British settlers build the Casa del Mar fortress off the coast of Tarfaya (formerly known as Cap Juby).
- 1885: The Saharan tribes appeal to Hassan I who succeeds in negotiating the departure of the British.
- 1912: establishment of the French Protectorate under the Treaty of Fez.
- 1916: following an agreement between Spain and France, the Tarfaya region becomes part of the Spanish Sahara.
- 1927: The Aéropostale sets up an airfield in Tarfaya with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry at its head.
- 1958: The Ifni war comes to an end and Tarfaya is reunited with Morocco.
- 1975: The Green March, launched by Hassan II, brings together 350,000 Moroccans to demand the definitive withdrawal of the Spanish.
But there is a marvellous thing related of this Desert, which is that when travellers are on the move by night, and one of them chances to lag behind or to fall asleep or the like, when he tries to gain his company again he will hear spirits talking, and will suppose them to be his comrades. Sometimes the spirits will call him by name; and thus shall a traveller oftentimes be led astray so that he never finds his party. [...] And sometimes you shall hear the sound of a variety of musical instruments, and still more commonly the sound of drums.
